Sneak and Surprise

For better or for worse than what it was before

My sudden appearance can cause stress and alarm

I can sneak and surprise, or drag on for days

Though I promise you now that I mean no harm.

Your opinion of me is varied

Depending on how I act

Preparation makes me no easier to endure

And that is a fact.

However, I may bring excitement

I can form something you enjoy

A flash of improvement

To play like a toy.

Yes, I am a mystery

Yet always drawing near

Nothing can prevent my hands

Or stop the work of my gear.
